MULTI-DAY · PRIVATE TOUR
Transylvania & Wine Tasting
3 days · 2 nights · Private tour
€680 per person · no deposit
From Bucharest · Accommodation included

A private 3-day journey that pairs Transylvania’s greatest landscapes and castles with one of Romania’s most memorable wine experiences. From the dramatic Transfăgărășan Highway to UNESCO villages and royal castles, this trip is designed to show you the region at its very best — at your own pace.
Drive the full length of the legendary Transfăgărășan, stand below Poenari — the real fortress of Vlad the Impaler — and take in the scenery at Bâlea Lake. Wander UNESCO gems like Prejmer, Viscri and the medieval citadel of Sighișoara, then discover Bran Castle, Brașov and Peleș.
The highlight in the evening of day two is a private wine tasting: five Romanian wines with cheese platters, hosted by the President of the Romanian Sommelier Association — a relaxed, genuinely fascinating end to the day.
THE ITINERARY
Your three days
DAY 01
The Transfăgărășan & Vlad’s fortress
Bucharest · Curtea de Argeș · Transfăgărășan · Râșnov
I pick you up at 9:00 from the Hilton Garden Inn near Bucharest Airport, and we head for the spectacular Transfăgărășan Highway, driving it from one side of the mountains to the other. Along the way we visit Curtea de Argeș Monastery, the Vidraru Dam, and Poenari Fortress — the real castle of Vlad the Impaler (seen from below; the climb to the fortress itself is a 30–40 minute hike). We pause at Bâlea Lake to take in the scenery, then descend the northern side toward Râșnov, with a chance to visit Făgăraș Fortress if time allows. In the evening we reach our B&B, followed by dinner at my father’s restaurant — a beloved local spot I’m sure you’ll enjoy.
DAY 02
UNESCO villages & a wine tasting
Prejmer · Viscri · Sighișoara
A day devoted to UNESCO World Heritage sites and iconic Transylvanian villages: the Prejmer Fortified Church, the beautifully preserved village and fortified church of Viscri (where we stop for lunch), and the medieval citadel of Sighișoara, where we spend a few hours exploring. In the late afternoon we return to Râșnov. In the evening, a special treat — a private wine tasting of five Romanian wines with cheese platters, water and coffee, hosted by the President of the Romanian Sommelier Association.
DAY 03
Bran, Brașov & Peleș
Bran · Brașov · Sinaia · Bucharest
We set off early to reach Bran Castle before the crowds, then explore the charming historic centre of Brașov. On the way back to Bucharest, we stop to visit the magnificent Peleș Castle.
