Seven days to see Transylvania properly — over the legendary Transfăgărășan, through Saxon villages and fortified churches, down into salt mines and up to ancient Dacian ruins, with castles, wine and brown bears along the way.
This is a private, unhurried journey, guided entirely by me and shaped around what you love. You travel at your own pace, sleep in beautiful towns, and see the Transylvania most visitors never reach.

DAY 01
Over the Transfăgărășan
Bucharest · Curtea de Argeș · Bâlea · Sibiu
I pick you up from Bucharest at 8:00 and we head north on the legendary Transfăgărășan road — the Curtea de Argeș Monastery, the great Vidraru Dam, glacial Bâlea Lake at the top, and the romantic ruins of the Cârța Cistercian Abbey. Night in Sibiu.
DAY 02
History & UNESCO heritage
Hunedoara · Sarmizegetusa Regia
A day deep in history: the Gothic magnificence of Corvin Castle, then Sarmizegetusa Regia — the sacred capital of the ancient Dacians, high and silent in the mountains. Night in Sibiu.
DAY 03
The beauty of Sibiu
Cristian · Sibiu
Closer to home today: the fortified church of Cristian, the wonderful open-air ASTRA Museum, and the elegant historic centre of Sibiu — with free time in the afternoon to wander and enjoy dinner at your own pace. Night in Sibiu.
DAY 04
Fortresses, salt & wine
Alba Iulia · Turda · Jidvei
The vast star-shaped Alba Carolina Citadel in Alba Iulia, the extraordinary underground world of the Turda Salt Mine, and a wine tasting at the Bethlen-Haller Castle in Jidvei. Night in Sighișoara.
DAY 05
Saxon villages & fortified churches
Sighișoara · Biertan · Viscri
Saxon Transylvania at its finest: the medieval citadel of Sighișoara, the mighty fortified church of Biertan, and the timeless village of Viscri with its whitewashed church. Night in Brașov.
DAY 06
Nature & the castles of Transylvania
Zărnești · Bran · Prejmer · Hărman
Rescued brown bears at the Zărnești Bear Sanctuary, the legends of Bran Castle, and two of the finest fortified churches in the land — Prejmer and Hărman. Night in Brașov.
DAY 07
Brașov & back to Bucharest
Brașov · Bucharest
A morning walking tour through the old town of Brașov. On the way back we can, if you like, stop at Cantacuzino Castle in Bușteni or the Slănic Prahova salt mine. We arrive in Bucharest in the evening.

Duration — 7 days, 6 nights.
Start & finish — Pick-up and drop-off in Bucharest; we set off at 8:00 on Day 1 and are back on the evening of Day 7.
What’s included — Six nights’ accommodation — 3 in Sibiu, 1 in Sighișoara, 2 in Brașov.
Guiding & transport — Private throughout, personally guided by me, in my own car.
