Five days through the heart of Transylvania — royal castles and Saxon citadels, the Transfăgărășan, elegant Sibiu, mighty Corvin Castle, and rescued brown bears. The classic route, at a comfortable private pace.
Every day is guided by me, and the whole trip is shaped around what you love. You sleep in the historic centres of Brașov and Sibiu, and see far more than a rushed group tour ever could.
THE ITINERARY
Your five days
DAY 01
Castles & down to Brașov
Bucharest · Sinaia · Bran · Brașov
I pick you up from Bucharest at 8:00. We begin with a guided visit of the royal Peleș Castle, the peaceful Sinaia Monastery, and the famous Bran Castle, before settling into the old centre of Brașov. Night in Brașov.
DAY 02
Saxon villages & UNESCO citadels
Viscri · Sighișoara · Biertan
A day among Saxon Transylvania’s treasures: the UNESCO village of Viscri with its fortified church (and King Charles’s guesthouse), the medieval citadel of Sighișoara, and the great fortified church of Biertan — all UNESCO World Heritage. Night in Brașov.
DAY 03
The Transfăgărășan & Sibiu
Transfăgărășan · Sibiu
We drive the spectacular Transfăgărășan road across the mountains to Sibiu, then explore its beautiful old town on foot — the Big and Small Squares, the Bridge of Lies, the Evangelical and Orthodox cathedrals, and the charming Passage of the Stairs. Night in Sibiu.
DAY 04
Corvin Castle & Alba Iulia
Hunedoara · Alba Iulia
Two of Transylvania’s grandest sights: Corvin Castle, one of the most spectacular Gothic castles in Europe, and the vast star-shaped Alba Carolina fortress in Alba Iulia — the Union Hall, the Coronation Cathedral and the old Roman routes. Night in Brașov.
DAY 05
Bears, Prejmer & back to Bucharest
Zărnești · Prejmer · Brașov · Bucharest
We meet rescued brown bears at the Libearty Bear Sanctuary in Zărnești and visit the UNESCO fortified church of Prejmer. A final walking tour of Brașov — Council Square, the Black Church, Rope Street, Catherine’s Gate — before I drive you back to Bucharest in the evening.

Start & finish — Pick-up and drop-off in Bucharest; we set off at 8:00 on Day 1 and are back in the evening of Day 5.
What’s included — Four nights’ accommodation in the historic centres of Brașov (Bella Muzica*** or similar) and Sibiu (Casa di Paolo*** or similar).
Guiding & transport — Private throughout, personally guided by me, in my own car.
